Youth Field Day 2019

On Saturday June 1st, we had a wonderful day to have 200 kids and their parents wander the grounds for our annual hosting of York Area Sportsmen for Youth, Youth Field Day.  The kids experienced different outdoor activities from the
shooting sports, to canoeing, fishing, and obstacle course and demonstrations on trapping, deer management and pelt identification. They were treated to lunch and went home with door prizes. The parents got a chance on raffles too.

I want to thank all of the folks who make this work.  It was a marvelous thing to be a part of, again! Register early for next year, they filled, and have a wait list again!

This event, run by the “York Area Sportsmen for Youth”, hosts up to 200 kids aged 8-15, exposing them to a variety of outdoor events. IWLA #67 supplies the venue, our grounds.

There are a dozen or so stations, from shooting sports (trap, .22 rifle, muzzle loader and archery), to canoeing, fishing, a woods obstacle run and presentations from Game Commission Officers, trappers, Ducks Unlimited and others. The kids are sent home with goodie bags, tired, dirty, fed and happy.

The best part? Thanks to the volunteer efforts of the York Area folks, a bunch of IWLA67 members and many local monetary sponsors, this event it free to all participants. Advanced registration is required.

Pre-register by sending a self- addressed stamped envelope with the name(s) you want to register to the following address: York Area Sportsmen for Youth
